Upon the announcement of the 4000th military death in Iraq, NOAC, Peace Action and inumerable individuals and groups such as Veterans for Peace, CNVN, Women Speak Out and others gathered on the Veterans Memorial Bridge to commemorate this terrible milestone along with the death of an estimated 1,000,000 or more Iraqi civilians. Not that this death is any more or less significant than any of the previous 3999, rather that it highlights the terrible and unecessary loss of life for the lies that created this war. Honking horns from passersby in response to our visible presence and to the 4000 names strung on the bridge fences, both north and south side, and the 4000 lights held by participants, confirms the ever growing opposition to this unjust, immoral, illegal war.
